The key principles of the IB Diploma

A demanding pathway, built around one’s choices

The IB programme allows pupils to study some subjects in depth while keeping a broad education.

Pupils choose six subjects according to the IB rules. Three or four are studied at higher level, the others at standard level. The team helps them build a combination that matches their achievements and ambitions.

Research and critical thinking at the heart of learning

Pupils learn to formulate a question, examine evidence and defend a reasoned conclusion.

Work in each subject, Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay allows them to go beyond simply restating lessons. They develop personal thinking and learn to recognise the limits of an argument or a source.

Independence in long-term work

The IB pathway requires pupils to carry out several pieces of work over an extended period. They learn to pace their efforts, anticipate deadlines and track the progress of their projects.

A work schedule and regular feedback from teachers help them develop their organisational skills. Individual support allows them to adjust their methods over the two years.

Responsible research practice

Academic integrity is part of the education. Pupils learn to cite their sources, explain their approach and produce their own work.

The school uses a common referencing framework and encourages thoughtful use of digital tools and artificial intelligence, in line with teaching guidelines.

International outlook and concrete commitment

The subjects encourage pupils to understand different cultural and intellectual perspectives. They develop their ability to engage in dialogue and to approach global issues with discernment.

The CAS programme complements this outlook through action: creative projects, physical activities and service to others.

Support towards higher education

Guidance support helps pupils clarify their plans, understand what programmes expect and prepare their applications.

The aim is to link their academic choices to their aspirations, so they can approach the next stage of their studies with clear bearings.
